Upside-down, The Good Newsletter 2020 - Week 21

The weekly interactive newsletter sent out by Plukrijp to its members

For people living NOW the school of life

For YOU to send all your good news to

upside down = instead of announcing what we plan to do
(& most often find out we do not need to do), we relate what we really did

Building communities of trust is fundamental to healing our collective wound. At Plukrijp, we offer spaces of transparency and solidarity. The community allows people to encounter each other in truth and so develop trust.
We do the garden for YOU
Plukrijp functions on your frequent visits & harvests. Take along for friends & neighbours, this way we recreate real networks between us all, breaking down the illusory restrictions that now still separate many of us from our fellow man = UBUNTU.

What you can harvest now:

rhubarb, sweet peas, salads, celery, chards, chives, rucola, summer purslane, spinach, the first basilicum, the first cucumbers, fresh herbs for taste & medicine.

This week @ Plukrijp

A week of mixed weather: from night frosts to warm nights, from dry hot days to (finally!) a 20 minute fresh shower of rain.
We did so much this week:

Weed the big glass house & plant/seed the central bed with parsley, basil, tomatoes of all kinds & echinacea & Thai basil.

Plant the courgettes we grew in the open tunnels between the spinach & coriander that is being harvested away & the carrots that will grow "around" them.

Scratch the long lines at Hei & are positively surprised at all the delicate plants (carrots, red beets, beans) that have sprouted & are doing fine WITHOUT ONE DROP OF WATER FROM THE SKY! At that precise moment it started raining (but feebly).

"BIG spring" cleanup of our "blue door" stock room, of the Plukrijp house and the kitchen. We created lots of free clean space! Thanks Martine & ladies

Complete the new fence at the top of the closed tunnels & planted flowers in it. An ancient (18th century) wooden wheel & posts turned it into one more example of creative recycling. Thanks Bram, Anthony & Pippa

Decide to water the crops in the open tunnels since we were despairing of rain reaching us. We also added compost & reseeded carrots & red beets where the cold dry period had made them disappear. Now we could have 2 consecutive crops following each other, on condition of weeding & harvesting in time.

Seed low fine beans at Hei in the 3 long lines. Legumes like beans & peas have a special place in our yearly planning because of the nitrogen fixing & the nice soil they leave behind for the next crop.

Add straw to the low parts of the ditches in closed tunnels & in front, creating an inviting road for the many new people that come & harvest.

We shared and felt so much this week:

An evening of musical beauty with Bach & Keith Jarrett. Feeling beauty should be our basic relation with reality.

Watched & commented on the clash of 2 worlds, the '50s & the60s" in Jacques Tati's “Mon Oncle”, a masterpiece of the 7th art.

Watched & commented upon another masterpiece of the '60s: “My evening with Maude” by Eric Rohmer. The subtlety of the images & dialogues contrasts strongly with the actual "bull-dozer" movies where one is pulled by identification tricks into falling, flying, fear, hoping, despairing,...from the first image on. These masterpieces showed us how rich our OWN interior life is when not overblown by loud screaming.

An interview with Esther Perel on the force of erotic honesty. It fit into our now 15+day long self-examination of "what exactly do we feel ?" Negative feelings are easy to put a name, so we call them e-motions. Meaning, we WANT TO MOVE THEM OUT OF US INSTEAD OF FEELING THEM ! In reality, our whole life consists of a non-stop succession of feelings. Feelings take place in the body & can only be perceived by the senses. The reason we are so addicted to being diverted & entertained (fakebook/youtube/tv/sports/gossip) is that it overshadows what our senses are feeling. If we take the courage to name them, they tell us our patterns, our life-stories. Most social interaction is a kind of non-touching dance where we give each other glimpses of our real feelings, on condition of denying at any moment & hiding behind one or another convenient cliché e-motion. We by far prefer to stay in "known" situations where we do not run the risk of being "seen" as we are. Inevitably life brings a succession of changing environments causing reactions in our body. Learning to meditate has to go through this first stage where one virtually passes though one's body & one sees the succession of thought (most unnecessary rubbish) we swim in. Gradually, our perception of time slows down till we can see our habitual thought & feeling patterns come from afar. Then only can one speak of real meditation.

Extract: Helping

...each one - this totality of substance constituting your inner and outer body,

the totality of substance with which your being is built from the outermost to the inmost - is a field of work;

it is as though one had gathered together carefully, accumulated a certain number of vibrations and put them at your disposal for you to work upon them fully.

It is like a field of action constantly at your disposal: night and day, waking or asleep, all the time - nobody can take it away from you, it is wonderful!

You may refuse to use it (as most men do), but is a mass to be transformed that is there in your hands, fully at your disposal, given to you to learn to work upon it.

So, the most important thing is to begin by doing that.

You can do nothing with others unless you are able to do it with yourself.

You can never give a good advice to anyone unless you are able to give it to yourself first, and to follow it.

And if you see a difficulty somewhere, the best way of changing this difficulty is to change it in yourself first.

If you see a defect in anyone, you may be sure that it is in you, and you begin to change it in yourself.

And this is a wonderful thing, people don't realise what an infinite grace it is that this universe is arranged in such a way that there is a collection of substance, from the most material to the highest spiritual, all that gathered together into what is called a small individual, but at the disposal of a central Will.

And it is yours, your field of work, nobody can take it away from you, it your own property.

And to the extent you can work upon it, you will be able to have an action upon the world.

But only to that extent.

One must do more for oneself, besides, than one does for others.

The Mother

Looking from WIthin

If the son learns feeling primarily from the mother, t

hen he will probably see his own masculinity from the feminine point of view as well.

He may be fascinated with it (the feminine point of view),

but he will be afraid of it.

He may pity it and want to reform it,

or he may be suspicious of it and want to kill it.

Pandemie Fear - Osho

The question was: how to avoid an epidemic?

Osho: "You're asking the wrong question. The question should have been," Say something about the fear of dying in my heart because of the epidemic?”

How can you save yourself from this fear? Because it is very easy to avoid virus, but it is very difficult to avoid the fear that is in you and in the world. People will die more from this fear than from the epidemic. There is no virus in this world more dangerous than fear. Understand this fear, otherwise you will become a living corpse before your body dies. It has nothing to do with the virus. The frightening atmosphere you are looking at now is a collective madness, which continues to fade after a while. The reasons continue to change, but this kind of collective madness continues to be revealed occasionally. Many people get help or die. It has been a thousand times before and it will continue to happen. And will continue unless you understand the psychology of the crowd and fear. (…)
Stay alert. Don't watch a video or news that gives you anxiety. Stop talking about the epidemic - repeating the same thing over and over again is the birth of self-hypnosis. Anxiety is a type of self-hypnosis. This idea will cause chemical changes in the body. By repeating the same idea over and over, this chemical change can sometimes be so toxic that it can also take your life. (…)

Meditation becomes a protective aura around the viewfinder, preventing negative energy from entering. Now the energy of the whole world has become irrational. In such a way you can fall into this black hole any time. You can avoid this while sitting in the boat of meditation. (…)

Those who offer them today for tomorrow are afraid of death. Death is not a problem for those who live their lives completely every moment. Rethink life. Fear does not resolve anything and there is no cure for death.

If you don't die from a pandemic, you will have to die another day, and that day can be any day. Therefore: Keep ready. Don't take your life down. "

Humor (?)

Information bias: The tendency to refer to factual information as “fake news.”

The wisdom of crowds: stand up and be herd.

A message from The Mother (the wife of Sri Aurobindo) in these times of clashing opinions and falsified information:

"For instance, you are with someone.

This person tells you something, you tell him the contrary (as it usually happens, simply through a spirit of contradiction) and you begin arguing.

Naturally, you will never come to any point, except a quarrel if you are ill-natured.

But, instead of doing that, instead of remaining in your own ideas or your own words, if you tell yourself: "Wait a little, I am going to try and see WHY he said that to me. Yes, why did he tell me that ?"

And you concentrate: "Why, why, why ?"

You stand there, just like that, trying.

The other person continues speaking, doesn't he?

And he is very happy too, for you don't contradict him any longer!

He talks profusely and is sure he has convinced you.

Then you concentrate more and more on what he is saying, and with the feeling that gradually, through his words, you are entering his mind.

When you enter his head, suddenly you enter his way of thinking, and next, just imagine, you understand why he is speaking to you thus!

And then, if you have a fairly swift intelligence and put what you have just come to understand alongside what you had known before, you have the two ways together, and so can find the truth reconciling both.

And here you have really made progress.

And this is the best way of widening one's thought.

If you are beginning an argument, keep quiet immediately, instantaneously.

You must be silent, say nothing at all, and try to see the thing as the other sees it.

That won't make you forget your own way of seeing it, not at all !

But you will be able to put both of them together.

And you truly have made progress, a real progress."

Erotic Intelligence = Erotic Anarchism

written by Anthony

Based on the audio of Esther Perel: https://onbeing.org/programs/esther-perel-the-erotic-is-an-antidote-to-death/#transcript

Because we live too much stuck in "story" & "phantasy", we don't have feeling and fluidity and intuition anymore.

We lose the juicy taste of real life.

So we live with our "prince charming", but something is wrong, because there is "ambiguous loss", the person is there, but the soul is not.

We ignore this and live in ambivalence.

The comfortable semi-presence of not feeling bumping up to the deep need for real feeling.

We don't hear anymore the meaning that the other person has for us.

(remark by Frank: in tantra, there is a space in between two people that is filled with meaning that needs to be lived, that offers itself up to be lived in joy, in unconditional yes-bliss.)

In order to choose the anarchistic erotic (scenario B) life, and to fully engage into play-like-an-innocent-child with manifestation, one needs to recognize and live the intimacy & omnipresence of meaning.

Then there is chance of getting hurt, because you in your attempt to live the great play, because you hit on your self imposed rigid beliefs of should and shouldn't.

The invisible iron bars of the cage of your story, your moral convictions, your habitual superficiality.

If you have enough viewing distance between the observer and the observed inside you, you get rewarded with loving self mockery, and honest gusto to play.

You can keep on learning and playing the multiverse of meanings life gives to you at every moment, in the whole lifetime.

Oh, you had fun playing this first encounter, didn't you ?

Here's MORE !

Enjoy every little interaction fully !

Be totally responsible in the most literal sense of the word, like playing ping pong for fun.

So play with awareness and a LUST for life, for manifestation.

Both Oneness and Manifestation are one.

You can be both at the same time.

Bring fire to this manifestation.

"But you know, when people are engaged in revolutionary movements, they feel erotic."

"I really think it’s so important to understand that eroticism, narrowed down to the pure sexual meaning, is a real reduction of what the word stands for. It’s a transgressive force.

It is about breaking the rules. That is erotic, because it takes you outside of the borders of reality and the limitations of life."

Play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play, .....while staying responsible.
