(& most often find out we do not need to do), we relate what we really did
to healing our collective wound.

Plukrijp functions on your frequent visits & harvests. Take along for friends & neighbours, this way we recreate real networks between us all, breaking down the illusory restrictions that now still separate many of us from our fellow man = UBUNTU.

This week @ Plukrijp
We did:
We harvested basil, augurken, tomatoes, melons, chard, salad, rucola, mustard, peppers, sweet corn which we presented on tables on the side of the street in order to continue to inspire and invite local people to come and harvest in our beautiful garden.
We cleaned up the closed tunnels & seeded them with mustard & endive & chervil. We also planted salads in the 3 tunnels and onions in closed tunnel 2. We decided to flood the tunnels one last time before a first potential early frost.
We repaired the plastic on the close-able windows in the closed tunnels 1 & 2 to keep the warmth inside for fall/winter.
We collected chard seed & seeded it in the glasshouse.
We removed the corn stalks from the central field at Hei & put compost on it.
We pruned the berry bushes at Hei.
We seeded & scratched in Rye at the entrance of the Hei.
We continued planting leek, slowly covering the left side of the central field at Hei for winter.
We harvested pears & apples from the foodforest.
We harvested salad seed for next year.
We thanked the rain for finally deeply soaking the soil and made the first fire of the year inside the main house. The cold & wet end of summer calls for a nice evening around the fire to warm up on the inside.
Jojo came back from the permaculture festival in the UK and brought back some very beautiful books to enrich our beautiful library.
Plukrijp has been enriched with a superb harmonium that we were able to buy second-hand. All that remains is for Jojo to learn how to play it!
We made mint tea bags we harvested & dried last year to give away next Wednesday at the event “Planeet Heist”.
We fixed a few more europallets. The ones we cannot repair properly are stocked in order to have enough of them to be able to repair the long beds at Hei.

300 Days Alone
In 2008, Swiss adventurer Xavier Rosset spent ten months in solitude on an uninhabited Tonganese island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. « 300 Days Alone » follows his extraordinary adventure living on Tofua with nothing but the clothes off his back, a Swiss knife and machete, a medical kit, a satellite phone, and solar panels to charge his camera equipment.
What soon becomes clear to both him and us viewers is that Xavier adjusts very well to the physical hardships and discomfort of being stranded – despite suffering some harmful infections due to cuts on his hand from all the woodwork. But the tedium of doing nothing, feelings of having no purpose and the solitude prey on his mind. He struggles with being alone, having no one to talk to or bounce off ideas with.
Despite the struggles, it is a joyous movie to watch. At the end of his adventure, Xavier reflects on how living on an isolated island has made him appreciate everything life offers.

The traditional music group Amorroma, the historical music ensemble Zefiro Torna and jazz saxophone player and flute player Philippe Laloy (Traces, Tricycle) meet in a programme imbued by the spirit of Catharism.
Amorroma
For the mediaeval « Cathares » AMOR (love) was a positive word and ROMA (Rome) as a symbol for power and oppression a negative one. Putting these words into one these musicians want to create a tension between good and bad, happy and sad, longing and content, progressive and conservative, peaceful and vehement,… It’s in all these interactions that they situate their music.
Zefiro Torna
The Flemish vocal-instrumental ensemble Zefiro Torna was founded in 1996. Zefiro Torna consists of musicians who have won their spurs in ensembles such as the Huelgas ensemble, Collegium Vocale, Capilla Flamenca en Het Muziek Lod. Zefiro Torna brings the cultural heritage to life in a unique fashion, departing from a deep respect for the past. Authenticity is combined with creativity. They incorporate literature, theatre and contemporary or ethnic music in their productions. These are at times thematic, at other times strongly conceptual or experimental, always showing a strong sense of inspiration.
Traces
Since 2001 Traces is experimenting with fusioning jazz, classical and world music. The repertoire of the group balances between own compositions and new arrangements of European traditionals. Free interpretation and improvisation, essential elements of jazz, play an important role. Oriental influences lead us into a musical universe with strong melodies and enchanting rhythms.
