MASS PSYCHOSIS
How an Entire Population Becomes MENTALLY ILL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09maaUaRT4M

In this video we are going to explore the most dangerous of all psychic epidemics, the mass psychosis. A mass psychosis is an epidemic of madness and it occurs when a large portion of a society loses touch with reality and descends into delusions. Such a phenomenon is not a thing of fiction. Two examples of mass psychoses are the American and European witch hunts 16th and 17th centuries and the rise of totalitarianism in the 20th century.

This video will aim to answer questions surrounding mass psychosis: What is it? How does is start? Has it happened before? Are we experiencing one right now? And if so, how can the stages of a mass psychosis be reversed?

How to get over sh*t and be happy | Brad Blanton | TEDxCluj

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Fp93OtaHE

Brad Blanton Phd. is a psychotherapist, trainer and american writer, author of the « Radical Honesty » bestseller, a book and a theory that challenges a fundamental and almost unchallenged belief of our society. In a truly honest talk, maybe brutally honest, Mr. Blanton convinced the audience that honesty, and not politeness or political correctness is the essence of human relationships and a fulfilled life. Maybe being radically honest all the time is difficult to accept, maybe it is even an idea that a lot of people cannot digest but it is surely an idea that at least has to be intellectually entertained.

Radical Honesty by Dr. Brad Blanton

At once shocking, entertaining, and profound–Radical Honesty is revolutionary book that takes a fresh look at how we live, love, and attempt to heal ourselves in modern society.

Radical Honesty is not a kinder, gentler self-help book. In it Dr. Brad Blanton, a psychotherapist and expert on stress management, explodes the myths, superstitions, and lies by which we live. He shows us how stress comes not from the environment, but from the self-built jail of the mind. What keeps us in our self-built jails is lying. « We all lie like hell, » Dr. Blanton says. « It wears us out…it is the major source of all human stress. It kills us. » Not telling our friends, lovers, spouses, or bosses about what we do, feel, or think keeps us locked in that jail. The way out is to get good at telling the truth. Dr. Blanton provides the tools we can use to escape the jail of the mind. This book is the cake with the file in it.

In Radical Honesty, Dr. Blanton coaches us on how to have lives that work, how to have relationships that are alive and passionate, and how to create intimacy where none exists. As we have been taught by the philosophical and spiritual sources of our culture for thousands of years, from Plato to Nietzsche, from the Bible to Emerson, the truth shall set you free.

Extract:
Lying is the primary source of most human stress.
Stress is caused by the mind of the individual suffering from stress, not by circumstances.
Most suffering is generated by the tendency of the mind to moralize and judge, and to mistake belief for reality.
Most of us suffer from the fundamental problem of mistaken identity.
We tend to identify with our judgments and criticisms of ourselves and believe our judging minds to be who we are.

Design from the book “Radical Honesty”

Living in a story is what we all must do because we are human. Human beings live in the real world, but always in a way consistent with some story. Most of us live in stories that were created for us by the conditions of life we started out in and survived in as children and the cultural prejudices we were born into. Some of us grow beyond that and, as adults, actually design the story we live out of. There are not really a lot of us, but those of us who have transcended our raising have found that living in a story of our own conscious creation is a lot less miserable than living in the survival story we came out of childhood with.

Prophecy from the Irish

And then she added a prophecy in which she foretold
the approaching end of the Divine Age
and the coming of a new one,
in which the summers would be flowerless,
the cows milkless,
AND WOMEN SHAMELESS,
AND MEN STRENGTHLESS,
in which there would be trees without fruit and SEAS WITHOUT FISH,
when old men would give false judgements and legislators,
when warriors would betray one another,
AND MEN WOULD BE THIEVES AND THERE WOULD BE NO MORE VIRTUE IN THE WORLD.

– The Prophecy of Badb, War Queen of the Tuatha De Danan (from prehistoric Irish lore)

Inspiring Poetry

Then said Almitra, Speak to us of Love.

And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you, follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself

He threshes you to make your naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

But if in your heart you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.”

And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

Humor (?)

A mind is for survival. We have minds in order to survive. Human beings, biologically, are a-tube-within-a-tube construction. We have a tube of skin covering up many more tubes inside us, including our veins and arteries and capillaries, and our digestive system.

Millennia ago in our evolution, we became independent of the ocean by creating our own ocean inside called the bloodstream. We survive now by putting water and food in one end of the tube and running it through our other tubes. Eventually, everything we put in comes out again through tubes at the other end, when we defecate and urinate, and through little tubes that come to the surface of the skin where we sweat.

A mind is useful for our survival if it helps us be successful at assimilating food and water and running it through the tubes so that we are sustained in being. If we continue to do it long enough and survive to pubescence, we then put a male tube inside a female tube and make another tube. When we do this we have fulfilled our mission to survive and the mission of our species to survive.

The mind serves the survival of the being if it is of some use in assimilating things to put in the front end of the tube, and finding other tubes to play with long enough to create more tubes. It’s a tube maintenance program.
