Plukrijp.be vzw – Upside-down the good newsletter
2022 – week 24

Upside down = instead of announcing what we plan to do
(& most often find out we do not need to do), we relate what we really did

Building communities of trust is fundamental
to healing our collective wound.
At Plukrijp, we offer spaces of transparency and solidarity.
The community allows people to encounter each other
in truth and so develop trust.
We do the garden for YOU
Plukrijp functions on your frequent visits & harvests. Take along for friends & neighbours, this way we recreate real networks between us all, breaking down the illusory restrictions that now still separate many of us from our fellow man = UBUNTU.
The updated list of vegetables & fruit that can be harvested this week is available on our website under the heading “Current Harvest” :

This week @ Plukrijp
We did:
At Hei, we weeded the lines seeded with red beet/carrot/spinach/salad in the Gertrud-Franck method on the big open field, the beans, pumpkins & corns, the patch in between the potatoes, the berries lines and the pathways. We did also cut the strawberry runners and did plant them in pots to give away.
Come and get your strawberry plants!

We put the sickels and sythes into action on the grasspatches going to the Hei. We were so focused on the growing of vegetables we lost track of the weeds on the path. Hanza and Angi shared with us their Czech techniques on scythe sharpening.

We planted onion and leek in tunnel 5, cabbages in open tunnel 4 and 5 and corn in between tunnel 4 and 5.

We filled pots with soil, watered them and seeded pickles, beans, fennel and savoy cabbage.

We seeded and scratched in clover in the food forest as a cover crop.

We flooded the tunnels and helped the plants up the trellis.

We cut back the celery going to seed.

We cut the lawn and the roads going to the food forest

We harvested the first berries this week. Every morning, we harvest a little of everything that is ripe and we present it on the street to encourage/invite local people to come and harvest themselves: zucchini, cucumber, rhubarb, red beets, salad, rocket, chervil, basil, spinach, summer purslane, all types of berries,…

The Blossoming of Consciousness

https://www.peterrussell.com/TV/vidcall/SANDblossmin.php

In addition to physical death, there is an equally significant death that we can participate in while living –the dying of the ego-self — which can actually lead us to become more alive. This dying is the full blossoming of consciousness, both in the individual and in our species development. When humans became self-aware— aware that they were aware — consciousness began to bud. But this self was a limited one based on an identity with the body. Full awakening comes from seeing beyond our the egoic-self to our nature. This uncovering of our true nature has grown exponentially over the last fifty years as more and more people explore their own consciousness. It is leading to the full blossoming of consciousness on this planet. And at a time when we most need it. (From SAND conference Dying and Living.)

And I tell you, there is no higher feeling in life, there is no higher profit than exactly this direct connection upwards. (…)

NO WAITING ROOM

What if you didn’t wake up tomorrow and your soul is watching down thinking of all the things you didn’t get to do yet because you were too scared, or too fat, or too worried about money. And all the things you told yourself you weren’t good enough for, swam in front of your eyes, fighting for a place in the line, beside the words you didn’t say and the joy you forgot to have.

My friend, there is absolutely no room for anything in your day, other than acceptance. You will never have enough money, or time, and you will certainly never have that perfect body the world told you you need to be happy.

And before you say it’s too late to embrace this thing we call life, no it is not. You can do it right where you are. Right this minute. Get outside, breathe, look at the trees, put your bare feet on the grass – hand on your heart to feel that pulse – and that’s it.

You’re living.

Keep that up.

Wait up for the moon sometimes or get up early to see a sunrise, just because you can.

Jump in the lake. Run, skip.

The things you need to feel alive are free and all around my friend.

You just have to see them.

Let in opportunity and say yes to the invitations that scare you a little, in a good way.

Say no to some of the things you force yourself to do, knowing they rinse you of your peace.

Life was never supposed to be a waiting room, it was supposed to be a hillside, with paths leading in every direction and mountains as far as the eye can see, hiding adventures and new friends behind them.

Don’t let yourself get to the end of this ride without having stopped to smell those beautiful roses.

That’s the only thing you need to fear in this life.

Everything else is all part of it.

It’s all just a messy, complicated, beautiful and terrifying part of it.

Chin up, throw your arms wide open

and let it be so.

Normal is not something to aspire to,

it’s something to get away from

Inspiring Text

The “primary consciousness,” the basic mind which knows reality rather than ideas about it, does not know the future. It lives completely in the present, and perceives nothing more than what is at this moment. The ingenious brain, however, looks at that part of present experience called memory, and by studying it is able to make predictions. These predictions are, relatively, so accurate and reliable (e.g., “everyone will die”) that the future assumes a high degree of reality — so high that the present loses its value.

But the future is still not here, and cannot become a part of experienced reality until it is present. Since what we know of the future is made up of purely abstract and logical elements — inferences, guesses, deductions — it cannot be eaten, felt, smelled, seen, heard, or otherwise enjoyed. To pursue it is to pursue a constantly retreating phantom, and the faster you chase it, the faster it runs ahead. This is why all the affairs of civilization are rushed, why hardly anyone enjoys what he has, and is forever seeking more and more. Happiness, then, will consist, not of solid and substantial realities, but of such abstract and superficial things as promises, hopes, and assurances.
