TEDx – Why we all need to practice emotional first aid

https://www.ted.com/talks/guy_winch_why_we_all_need_to_practice_emotional_first_aid

We’ll go to the doctor when we feel flu-ish or a nagging pain. So why don’t we see a health professional when we feel emotional pain: guilt, loss, loneliness? Too many of us deal with common psychological-health issues on our own, says Guy Winch. But we don’t have to. He makes a compelling case to practice emotional hygiene (pay attention to emotional pain) — taking care of our emotions (stop emotional bleeding & protect your self-esteem), our minds (battle negative thinking), with the same diligence we take care of our bodies.

Heaven On Earth

People often assume that if someone is giving thanks, it’s because their life is easy and that they have nothing to be negative about. This is not the case at all. Those who practice gratitude understand that it’s how you think about a situation, that makes it easier or more difficult.

How to Co-Create With the Universe

writen by Kimberly Fosu

All you need to do is to put your ego in the backseat, invite your soul to take the driver’s seat, move in alignment with the universe, and take all inspired actions to manifest the things you know you deserve.

The Ego

If a person intends they’re going to create the life of their dreams, you can believe the ego will try to rule. It will jump into the driver’s seat and will almost always get it wrong, leaving the person frustrated. The ego wants to make sure you get everything you desire, but it cannot be in the driver’s seat during co-creation. Ego will get in the way of getting what you want, but until it knows you will be taken care of, it won’t get out of the driver’s seat. Ego is forceful. It will drive fast and aggressively. The ego is very limited. It has an idea and thinks that’s all that is possible. It gets fixated on specific intentions and outcomes and will not allow the process to unfold naturally. There’s nothing wrong with setting specific intentions, but it cannot come from the ego. That method of manifesting is exhausting. It makes you feel as if you should be on top of things all the time. But that’s not the case. What you really need to do is to get your ego out of your own way and out of the driver’s seat so the soul can take its rightful place.

The Soul

From a conscious place, the soul sits in the driver’s seat and drives you safely to your destination. It has no need to rush because it planned your life and knows what will happen. It flows with the universe and lets things unfold naturally. It works in tandem with the universe to create the life you desire. This opens you up to all possibilities, not just one. In co-creation with the universe, you don’t need to stay on top of things all the time. You just need to stay on top of yourself. It is setting an intention, getting your emotions and thoughts aligned with what you want to create, letting go of the outcome, and trusting the universe to do the rest. You will also have to take action, but the most important thing is to work on your own state of consciousness to embody what it is you want to attract. Your thoughts and feelings must be aligned with what you want to create. It’s easy to align yourself with what you want to create if you can learn to be in the present moment. Being in the present moment aligns you with the divine. It aligns you with the spirit of higher consciousness. As you begin to raise your level of consciousness, you distance yourself from your thoughts of the how’s and when’s, and you are no longer in the limited scope of the ego. This opens us up to a world of endless possibilities.

The Universe

Manifesting isn’t entirely up to you. Actually, you don’t control most things. You only control one thing and that’s yourself. You must do your part and allow the universe a chance to work. You have to understand your role, and what the universe’s role is so you can be congruent with the universe. Being congruent means doing your part and handing it over to the universe to do its part. This is why the most important thing you can do in your manifestation process is to work on your own state of consciousness. Your job is to get aligned with the universe and the universe decides the when and the how. When it will happen, and how it will happen, isn’t yours to figure out. It’s for the universe to sort. It’s not always easy to trust that when you hand it over and let go, it will be taken care of. It’s not always easy to surrender, but that’s where the real test lies. If you have no trust in the process, then it will be difficult to create anything with the universe because you will always try to control things that are not yours to control. Co-creating with the universe doesn’t require as much effort as the mind thinks it does. It just requires you to be present and ready to take inspired action. Your mind is always going to tell you it’s harder than it actually is. But your heart will always tell you what you need to do. You will be called to take action that will lead you to the thing you desire.

Are you the real warriors of the new world?

Integrity, Sincerity, Determination, Decisiveness, Will, Effort, and Dedication with unbending Faith and Trust are the attributes of the spiritual warrior necessary to engage in the Great Work during this Time of Transition.

We also need others to do this work together. There is only so much self-work we can do by ourselves for we all have our subjective blind spots, tunnel vision, and mechanical patterns we are not aware of. It is not enough to be around just “like-minded” people but people who are also engaged in the same work. As the great mystic Gurdjieff once said:

“The majority of people find many excuses not to work on themselves. They are in a complete prison of their weaknesses. Understand me right, I do not need followers, I am rather interested in finding the real warriors of the new world.”
