This week @ Plukrijp
We did:

Re-seeded pumpkins in the pots where they had not yet germinated

We planted red bell peppers, batavia salads, cauliflowers, courgettes, tomatoes, basil, melons, cucumbers in the closed and open tunnels. We planted leek in open tunnel 1 and in the central field at Hei. We seeded low beans in the long raised bed at Hei.

We scratched the entire Hei and the pathways in between all the beds.

We spaced the carrots and the parsnips in the low long beds at Hei.

We hilled the potatoes at Hei. They’re looking strong!

A part of the long raised bed at Hei was falling over into the pathway, so we redressed that one with new pallets.

We weeded all the tunnels, removing also leftover purslain, chervil, and corn salad.

We did cut the chives in the closed tunnels so that they can regrow beautifully.

We harvested the first strawberries and the last cauliflowers.

The weather has been very dry and warm for the last weeks, so almost every day we watered the fragile plants by hand. We installed a new watering line at the bottom of the closed tunnels.

The grass got its first trim with the sharpened blades of our lawnmower.

We cleaned the road in between tunnel 5 and the storage tunnel 6.

We received and stored some large high quality MDF plates from our neighbour. Thank you Luc!

Stop Wanting, Start Accepting | The Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDsdLKDHIWI

Although he never considered himself a philosopher, Marcus Aurelius’ writings have become one of the most significant ancient Stoic scriptures. His ‘Meditations’ contain a series of notes to himself based on Stoic ideas, one of which is embracing fate and living conformably to the demands of nature.

Instead of wanting things to happen as we wish, we’re better off accepting the universe, according to Marcus Aurelius, and developing a flexible attitude towards the outside world while being strict with ourselves

What follows is an exploration of Huxley’s thoughts on the haunting future envisioned in the totalitarian world of 1984.

Merton stands in lineage with a host of 20th century visionaries who not only announced the crises of our time, but also identified routes of recovery and social salvation. Though his genius and appeal are uniquely American and Catholic, he echoes with exceptional authenticity and boldness the voices of the prophetic traditions of Judaism and Christianity, the mystical depth of Islam’s Sufism, the wisdom traditions of Asia and Native America, and the poetic challenge of his wide network of culture critics and creatives.

Quote:

‘If we are to love sincerely and with simplicity, we must overcome the fear of not being loved. And this cannot be done by forcing ourselves to believe in some illusion, saying that we are loved when we are not. We must somehow strip ourselves of our greatest illusions by recognizing the many ways we are unlovable, descend into the depths of our being until we come to the fundamental reality in us, and learn to see that we are lovable after all, in spite of everything!’

The ancient Stoics were deeply concerned with the virtue of equanimity. Equanimity or ‘inner peace’ is a prerequisite for being a happy and flourishing person according to Stoic philosophy. Therefore, it’s no surprise that ancient Stoic texts contain invaluable wisdom on how to calm the mind. The challenge, however, is to find and translate this wisdom in a way that’s simple and comprehensible in our modern context, while still maintaining its profundity. Einzelgänger studied the ancient Stoic texts and has been creating a (growing) collection of essays on applying Stoic philosophy in everyday life. Most of these essays have been published on YouTube in video format. Due to their popularity, Einzelgänger decided to revise a selection of these essays on Stoicism and inner peace, and release them in book format. Not only have all the texts been re-edited and improved, many of them have been extended, and two unreleased pieces about ‘loneliness’ and ‘guilt’ have been added to the collection. A focus on inner peace is more than relevant in these challenging and unpredictable times. Stoic philosophy can help us put things into perspective, let go of past events, worry less about the future, and improve our overall experience of life.

Recognize & embrace your own “madness” in order to transcend it

Be silent and listen: have you recognized your madness, and do you admit it? Have you noticed that all your foundations are completely mired in madness? Do you not want to recognize your madness and welcome it in a friendly manner? You wanted to accept everything. So accept madness too. Let the light of your madness shine, and it will suddenly dawn on you. Madness is not to be despised and not to be feared, but instead, you should give it life… You should also not spurn madness if you want to find paths since it makes up such a great part of your nature… Be glad that you can recognize it, for you will thus avoid becoming its victim. Madness is a particular form of the spirit and clings to all teachings and philosophies, but even more to daily life since life is full of craziness and utterly illogical at the bottom.

– Carl Jung

How does one know if they’ve recognized their own “madness”? Where does one begin to accept their shadow?

It seems fear could be a useful starting point. The theologian Thomas Merton suggested that what you fear indicates what you seek. Likewise, Jung explained, “the most terrifying thing in the world is to accept oneself completely.”

What are you most afraid to accept about yourself? Is there anything you are desperately trying to change? According to psychologist Carl Rogers, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

What if we viewed the path of self-improvement more like a path of self-acceptance? To quote Jung, “The acceptance of oneself is the essence of the whole moral problem and the epitome of the whole outlook on life.”

Dr. Montagnier was a Virologist who won the Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2008 for his discovery, work and understanding of the HIV virus. His brilliance was equally matched by his integrity, bravery and dedication to true science. Dr. Montagnier never missed an opportunity to spread truth, regardless of the backlash, and has inspired many to do the same.

His truths went against the narrative, therefore he was often censored and, unfortunately, many people did not hear what he had to say. But he was one of the first to encourage early treatments, state that mass vaccinations were an “enormous mistake” and claim that vaccines would, in fact, create variants.

Dr.Luc Montagnier from an interview on January 17, 2022 in Milan:

“Doctors today are perfectly informed of what I am saying, and therefore they should intervene immediately because the future of humanity is at stake. Many countries have forgotten about treatments, there is not only the vaccine, there are drugs that have not been used and that work very well, such as antibiotics….

The research continues, and I and my whole team continue to research this virus. The research does not stop, we have not yet reached the point. Man will win if he focuses on the law of nature and only on that. Every citizen is free and must also follow political ideas, take advantage of the upcoming elections to express your opinion.

What would I say to a young person today? You absolutely must act, each of you, and find the truth hidden behind the lies. Long live freedom “.
